Gosh where do we begin with this sweet girl. A guy brought her to the shelter and said June was his wife's dog. The wife passed away and her kids were suppose to care for June. Well all the kids did was throw some food at June over the fence now and then. This poor girl basically lived on her own in the backyard. He said he was turning her into the shelter before something bad happened to her. We rescued June and took her to the vet. She is being treated for mange, she's ~5 yrs old, weighs ~28 lbs. This little girl is so scared of people hurting her. She just shakes and cowers. She's been with her foster family for about a week now and is doing well. She is learning to trust and wants to be pet and loved. She is eating well and taking her meds. She has a follow up appt this weekend. June would do best in a home with a calm dog, she's not a fan of hyper, jumpy dogs in her space. She would do ok in a home with older kids who understand to respect her personal space. She is such a love bug. She's learned to hop on the couch and come snuggle next to her foster mom. She is thankfully very food motivated so training will be easy when the time comes. Right now just baby steps...getting her feeling better first and building trust.
